Brendan Animation - Waves

Over the last few months I've been working on Brendan and the Secret of Kells with the guys at The Cartoon Saloon and here is some animation from the big storm sequence at the beginning of the film.  The Wave animation, which I was responsible for was produced in Toon Boom and Anime Studio.

Other animators involved in the scenes are Barry Reynolds, who did the character animation, cleanup in the Kecskemét film, Hungary and Olivia Honan did the fire and smoke animation (in Flash) as Iona burns.

  • Wow, looks great Ger. Nice to see all the bits come together to make a whole scene. And wulfie looks really great as well.
And will you tell Tom C that the amazing race came to galway!

  • Thanks guys for all your comments, and coming to the end of my time on Brendan. And having used Toon Boom alot for the waves animation I can say it is not a great programme to use, and seems to have some issues with the cintiq. It is such a pity and Tom has abandoned using it for roughing animation in wulfie and has actually started using a free animation programme called Pencil, so much better for roughing out poses and building up drawings than its professional counterpart, anyway thats my two cents on the programme.

I really wish some company could produce a really good programme made for animators. That works on macs. Someday...
