A Rejected Design

It has been quite a busy time for us here and I wanted to post something from the last few weeks so here is a design from one of our own projects that we are working on on the side. It is not so much a rejected design as much as we choose to take a slightly different approach with the story. And as so many designs never see the light of day for various reasons I figured I would post at least one.

It was drawn in Zeus draw, my new favourite vector sketching programme and coloured up in Art Rage, with minor colour tweaking in good old Photoshop.

Tom C Spills It All

I just wanted to post this little link to an interview with the brilliant Tom Caulfield, who I have worked with on many projects, including alot for us here. Anyway it was an interview conducted by Dan from Pegbar and thanks Dan for sending me the link.

It is curious though as to how myself and Tom's stories of how we ended up in the art class because the business class was full are so similar. Where would both of us be now if we hadn't had seen Beauty and the Beast either.

Enjoy the read.

The Secret of Kells Premiere

Last night was the premiere of the film "The Secret of Kells", a film I worked on for some time with the guys from The Cartoon Saloon. It was a great night and even better to see it on the big screen and to catch up with alot of the crew from the film. Congratulations once again to The Cartoon Saloon, and I would urge every one to head along and see the film from March 6th.

Check out the film website here
Pictured Above: Tomm Moore, Director and Paul Young, Producer of the the film.

Tomm Moore invited all the crew that attended up on stage after the screening.

Myself and Tomm Moore tell Sarah Dillon of the Irish Film Board the next idea for a film.

The Swedish Contingent and more...

All the animation is going great on Miss Remarkable but we have had a couple of new people join the team, and one person finishing up. Thanks again to Candice for all her work.

So welcome to Markus (pictured here), working with David - the animation director, also pictured above - in Sweden and to Eadaoin our Production Assistant working with Michael.

Miss Remarkable Tracking

So as we come to the end of Miss Remarkable Animation we have resorted to the best tracking system there is, a bunch of post-it notes. Not that we have abandoned our excel files and wiki's but it is always good to see a the post-it notes move through the boards.

Although for anyone considering the use of such a system I would suggest a bit of blue-tac to secure them to the boards, there is nothing worse than coming into work the one morning to find a few scenes on the floor.

Swedish Trips

Hej Hej, as they say is Sweden, I have been visiting swedish airports a fair amount recently, in finishing up of Miss Remarkable and her Career, so to pass the time in passport control I have been sketching my fellow passengers.

Enjoy.
